We show you how. We demonstrate the facts clearly, hands-on. You will be an actively involved participant in your quest for accuracy and wisdom in all aspects of Shechita.

We lift you up the ladder, help you acquire each skill level, until you can Bezer Hashem call yourself a master.

We provide Shechita educational courses for aspiring Shochtim. Our training sessions are also geared toward already knowledgeable Shochtim who wish to sharpen their skills with the important knowledge of our program. 

Our training plan focuses on the practical aspects of Shechita, as well as the  Halachos of Shechita, containing the following:

    • Knife Sharpening and Training:
      • How to sharpen, from razor to fully Glatt (Chad Vcholok). The differences of Chad and Chalak. 
      • Historical knife-making developments and skills.This is coupled with scientific information on the structure and bonding of the alloys. We include experiments on microscopic devices for visualization purposes. We provide extensive photographic evidence and applicable information.
      • History of famous Knife Makers (J&D Miller etc.) and the special applications and material they used.
      • How to differentiate in the quality of a knife, such as fabrication alloys and materials, make, etc.
      • Differences in the cutting edge angle of knives, chisel edge (1 side only), 90/10, 80/20, and 50/50. 
      • Step by step explanation of the changes happening to the knife while progressing to higher grids.
    • Sharpening Stone handling and training:
      • Holding position of stone to sharpen easily and efficiently
      • Techniques on straightening stones
      • Opening and polishing the stone for top performance and quality of sharpening
      • Information on many different stones, to be able to acquire the best quality for Shechita purposes
    • Tefisah:
      • Holding the Simanim and the animal in the proper manner for Shechita
    • Halachos, Homework, and Practice:
      • It is the responsibility of each student to fully remember and be knowledgeable in the correct Halachic opinions and  practical application for all instances, in order to receive Semicha.
      • Each student must refresh their knowledge on a periodic basis, once acquired.
      • Guaranteeing this type of outcome would be very time consuming and impractical for our program. Therefore, studying inside the Shulchan Aruch, Simlah Chadasha, etc. will be the responsibility of the student as we go along.
      • However, Rabonim, Dayonim, and Shochtim, will be incorporated into our program for general courses. They will provide a vast amount of information in  practical and Halachic appliances L'maase. 
      • We will be guiding our students on difficult subjects and Shailos as we go along. This will be supplemented by quizzes, references to specific books, or material to study. We will also assign homework and practical skills to practice.
      • We will provide a CD of Harav Meshulam Rosenberg Shelita, Dayan in Chaifa, with a full explanation of the entire Shulchan Urech on Hilchos Shechita, divided into Simonim and Seifim. You can also listen to them online by clicking here.
      • If any student wants additional tutoring in the Halachos of Shechita, we will work it out with him for a reasonable charge, depending on the hours needed. 
    • Each student will be given a special starting kit containing a Shochet practice knife, several sharpening stones, and much more as we go along.
    • We will have on-site Shechita practices, witnessed by 3 professional Shochetim, until students fully require the skills-as many as needed.
    • We provide recommendations for a Ksav Shechita (letter of Shochet certification) by Kashrus organizations and Rabbanim, and a Teuda (Certification) from "Bais Hachalifos" certifying that you succeeded in passing our specially designed course, signed by the Shochetim. 

    The program outlined above will start this coming Spring 2019 after Pesach. It will take place in Monsey, NY and span 8 to 12 weeks, depending on the level of the student, and the level he wants to pass. Already knowledgeable Shochetim, brushing up their skills, will require approximately 6 weeks.
